Block Dimension Combinations

Use this page to block (or prevent) certain entity-dimension value combinations from being used.

For example, on this page, the following options are selected: 

  • Direction: Entity
  • Other Dimension: Color
  Source (Entity List)   Destination (Other Dimension Values List)
000 Blue
  100 Green
  200 Red

The Source list shows the entities, and the Destination shows the dimension values for the selected other dimension. For entity 000, the color dimension value Blue is selected. The combination of entity 000and the color Blue cannot be used together in any transaction. If any user attempts to use this combination, an error message appears.

Block Entity-Dimension Value Combinations

To set up entity-dimension value combinations that you want to block, follow these steps: 

  1. Select the Direction in which you want to set up combinations.
  2. Select the Other Dimension for which you want to block entity-dimension combinations.
  3. If Direction is Other Dimension: 
    1. From the Source list on the left, select the dimension value you want
    2. From the Destination list on the right, select one or more entities for the combination.
  4. If Direction is Entity: 
    1. From the Source list on the left, select the entity you want.
    2. From the Destination list on the right, select one or more dimension values for the combination.
  5. Close the page.

Fields

This page contains the following fields: 

Field Description
Direction

Select the direction in which you want to set up the entity-dimension value combinations that you want to block.

  • Entity:Enables you to set up combinations for a selected entity with one or more dimension values of the selected dimension. When selected, the entity list appears on the left, and the dimension values for the other dimension appears in a list on the right.
  • Other Dimension: Enables you to set up combinations for the values of the selected dimension with one or more entities. When selected, the dimension values of the other dimension appears in a list on the left, and the entity list appears on the right. .
Other Dimension When Direction is Other Dimension, select the dimension for which you want to perform the setup.
Source
Displays the dimension values for which you want to block combinations: 
  • When Direction is Entity, select the entity for which you want to block combinations.
  • When Direction is Other Dimension, select the dimension value of the other dimension for which you want to block combinations.
Destination

Display the dimension values for which you want to block combinations: 

  • When Direction is Entity, select Block check box for the values where you want to block the combinations.
  • When Direction is Other Dimension, select Block check box for the entities where you want to block the combinations.

The entity-dimension value combinations that are selected cannot be used in any transactions.
